We work alongside them, helping to trace the child's family and the situation that led to the abandonment, abuse or neglect. Our assessments, carried out by trained and qualified social workers, enable judges to make the right decisions in the best interests of the child and highlight the need for a professional social workforce, particularly in the field of child protection. We also help centres or orphanages to draw up life plans for children with a view to assessing, supporting and preparing children to be reunited with their biological families, always with the best interests of the child central to all decisions. We also assist centres or orphanages to strengthen families so that they can welcome their children back. Gatekeeping is the cornerstone for the continuum of care which involves foster care, adoption or family reunification and strengthening.
